How do I register for the GearMinds courses?

Please call us at (469) 290-4561 or email us at contactus@gearmindsacademy.com to schedule a free orientation. Our course coordinator can provide you with information about our courses and teaching strategy. You can schedule a tour of our center when you talk to our coordinator. You can also register for the course online through our website.

What makes your class different from other coding classes?

We give students real-world challenges that help them develop problem-solving skills. After an introduction to concepts, students work in groups to engage with what they’ve learned. We use educational robots to empower young kids to learn critical coding skills without the need for tedious memorization. This introduces an element of fun into lessons, leading to more participatory, and more memorable classroom experiences.

Does coding improve academic performance?

Yes! Coding helps kids to be able to visualize abstract concepts, lets them apply math to real-world situations, and makes math fun and creative. Kids who learn to code understand how to plan and organize thoughts.  The reality is though not everyone wants to be a programmer, understanding the foundational critical thinking that programming offers are something everyone should possess.

My kid knows some coding. Where do they start?

Excellent! With so many classes available and online resources, many students come in with past experience. Our coordinators can discuss and suggest a good starting level for your child.

Do you offer competition opportunities?

Every year, FIRST® LEGO® League releases a new challenge based on a real-world, scientific theme. The team from GearMinds has been participating in the competition since 2021.  The team has won the Robot Design Awards and qualified for the regionals in 2022-23. The GearMinds team formation for the 2023 -24 season will start in August with the tryouts.

How do I decide the right course for my child from the many course options?

Our course coordinator will go through the courses and will recommend options based on your child’s interests and experience. Our priority is to start students in a course that they will enjoy and at the same time will provide the right amount of challenge to them.
